My name is Sam Matthews and I am the colorful haired hippie chick behind Propagate Studio. Many of you will know me as the bus gal and owner of Flo (and Frankie!) of That’s So Sam. They are still alive and well, actually, Flo is not well in the sense that she still needs her engine to be replaced, BUT you will get to see if you if you come to the studio because that will be her new home! She will be right inside the studio in all her glory during her sabbatical until her mechanics are taken care of.
While I have loved the mobile business scene, it has been a long time goal of mine to offer a physical space for creatives to come and grow their creativity. When my life took a few crazy turns this year and the opportunity to rent a space became a reality, I knew I had to go for it. I have a degree in Fine Arts but have found myself doing everything but “gallery ready” art. I love the freedom being a creative gives me because I have found that my craft or medium changes as the seasons do and I as I do. This next season I am excited to make my medium about the experience I create within the studio for others.
I have been teaching art and offering creative outlets for folks since before I graduated college. I believe we are all artists and creatives, no matter our age or skill, but sometimes just need the time, space and materials to grow that creativity in whatever medium feels right.
