The Propagation Fund

If you are struggling financially but would still like to take one of our workshops or know someone who is need of a creative outlet but cannot afford a class on their own, please consider applying for the Propagation Fund. If you are able to share with our community please consider donating to this fund! Through the gift of paying it forward we can grow this opportunity for others and propagate the amazing gift of creativity to others in our community. I ascribe to the belief in the law of abundance, that there is plenty to go around, and that by giving, you are opening yourself up to receiving something greater.

May 18th | Artsy Birthday Bingo

Come celebrate my birthday with me! Wear your MOST colorful and fun outfit (your most Sam outfit even!) and join us for a night of fun, artsy bingo, mini games, prizes, dancing, and celebrating this wild, colorful life! BYOB, some snacks will be provided, feel free to bring your own if desired. All fees for this class will be donated to the Propagation Fund!


May 4th | Star Wars Event

Join us for an intergalactic celebration like no other on May the 4th! Step into a galaxy far, far away and immerse yourself in the epic world of Star Wars at Propagate Studio. Whether you're a Jedi Knight, a Sith Lord, or a droid aficionado, there's something for everyone at this cosmic gathering.

Embark on an adventure through the digital realm with our selection of Star Wars video games. Capture memories that will last a lifetime at our Star Wars photobooth. Come dressed up as your favorite characters! Unleash your creativity with themed crafts that will transport you to a galaxy of endless possibilities. May 5th | Art Supply Thrift Open Studio Day

Our art supply thrift shop is full to the brim of amazing materials begging to be made into something creative and beautiful! Join us for a night of growing your creativity where you can come create whatever you want! We are constantly adding project ideas to our “recipe book” and we always encourage people to check out our Pinterest board ( or your own! ). Bring snacks, drinks and your favorite crafty friend and come get creative. Please select which time frame you are planning to come during.

May 10th | Stacker Rings

Set of 3 Sterling Silver Stacker Rings

Join artist Colleen Puglia of Rustic Heart Studio for this fun and satisfying class. You will create 3 rings while learning how to make a basic solder joint, learn the different types of solder and why and how we use them. You will leave with 3 completed stacker rings that can be worn together or individually. You will have a choice of several wire patterns to make your creations.

Please bring: mask, eye protection, apron or old shirt, notebook, hair tie, ruler

Join Chris for a night of creating some amazing fantasy and pop art paintings in the Bob Ross style.

Mixing the traditional Bob Ross elements and techniques with some of our favorite pop art icons, Chris is blending his two all-time favorite things!

May 11, 18 & 25 | Clay Dates

Bring a date, a significant other, your best friend, your parent, your kiddo age 12+, you name it and let’s learn to throw! Students will be given 4 balls of clay to throw on the wheel. You will pick your glaze color but Propagate Studio will have all finished pieces fired and glazed within 3 weeks of your session.

This is an introductory lesson for people who have little to no experience on the wheel. Individual instruction gives you the basics for creating cylinders that can be turned into bowls or other vessels. Outcomes vary, but you will have lots of fun with this down and dirty, old as time way to create clay vessels.

Please wear clothes that can get dirty, and closed toed shoes that can be wiped clean.

May 11th | Seeded Birdhouses

Join us for a relaxing morning in celebration of Mother’s Day, and receive a complimentary mimosa ( non alcoholic option also available)!

Get creative as you personalize your seeded birdhouse with dried flowers, grass and dried fruit.

May 11th | Disco Ball Planter *off site

Join artist Sam Matthews from Propagate Studio in Warren County for this groovy workshop just in time for sunny, warm weather! Can’t keep your green plant friends alive for long? This class is perfect for you since we will be using faux florals and greens! make your own arrangement in your disco ball and learn how to create a simple macrame holder.

This class will be held in the community room at the Denville, NJ Town Hall.

May 12th | Artful Afternoon Tea

Whether you have a mother, are a mother, are mother-like, are an aunt, had an amazing mother, or something in between, come celebrate the beauty of mothers with us at Propagate Studio. We will be doing a very special collage project, share stories and memories, enjoy tea and lovely treats, take pictures and hopefully enjoy our beautiful outside space! Please bring any pictures, mementos etc that you would like to collage with. We will provide everything else. Kiddos 10+ are welcome. Please email with any food allergies you may have. If you would like to bring your own snacks, drinks etc. please do!

May 12th | 3 Week Stained Glass

Join local artist Sammie from Glassie Studio for this four week stained glass series. In this series you will be making your own design! Please contact Glassie.studio@gmail.com to confirm design ideas before class. Students will pick out their own glass colors, cut, grind, foil, and solder their pieces together over the course of 3 weeks.

May 17th | 2 Week DIY Miniature Room

Create your own Miniature Room Box. Do you love miniatures? Want to make a little world with your own hands? You will learn how to add magic to miniature spaces and create a room that smells of cinnamon and herbs. The room box will be provided. In the first workshop we will lay the flooring and paint the walls. The second workshop will be to add a little decor to the space. Room box, and flooring materials provided.

May 18 & 25th | Sew Simple

Are you intimidated by your sewing machine? You won’t be anymore! This beginner-friendly class equips you with the skills and confidence to sew like a pro with your own sewing machine (please bring your own). Week one you will learn about your machine and master the basics of setting yourself up to make a project and troubleshooting when issues may arise with your machine. You will create simple projects in week one that you will build from during week 2.

May 18th | Miniature Book Binding

There is a special connection between books and their owners. Even more so, there is magic with the books that you create. In this workshop I will help you create your own miniature book. Sizes can range to the size of your thumb or a book that comfortably fits in the palm of your hand. You can choose to leave the pages black for future use, or include unique images provided. Skills will be taught on how to bind book signatures. Materials provided.

Instructor Bio: Candace is a medieval art historian who works with rare books. Her love of the book has woven its way into her art. Little books are found around her dollhouses, which allow her to continue to make miniature art!

May 19th | Creative Escapes for kids!

We will use a variety of painting techniques bubble wrap printing, card swipe, splatter and stamping to create unique designs that will be transformed in to a butterfly collage.

You’ve seen them all over Pinterest and Instagram, right? Learn the steps to make your own 3-tier display from thrifted dishes. You will choose from supplied dishes, learn to drill the holes, and put your display together for fabulous entertaining!

Guerrilla Marketing: More Bang for Your Buck

Learn from an expert marketer exactly what guerrilla marketing is, and how it differs from traditional marketing. You’ll gain insights into what these special tactics are, when to use them, and at what cost. Instructor Kurt Matthews is a seasoned marketing pro with over 30 years of advertising and marketing experience. Kurt worked as a commercial artist, production manager and account manager developing campaigns for small
mom and pop businesses and Fortune 500 companies alike. Kurt has brought this experience to his startup chimney sweeping business which he has owned and operated since 2017.

May 25th | Drawing & Painting a Merman

Embark on a creative voyage beneath the surface of the sea in our Drawing and Watercolor class, where the graceful presence of a merman serves as your muse and guide. In this class, we'll have a whale of a time capturing the whimsical charm and enchanting beauty of our model, Merman Jonathan. From sketching the fin-tastic details of his shimmering scales to painting the coral-rific colors of his tail, you'll create a masterpiece that make a splash!

Whether you're a seasoned sailor of the art world or a landlubber just dipping your toes into the world of watercolor and life drawing, this class is perfect for artists of all levels. Guided by demonstrations and individualized feedback, you'll develop a deeper understanding of composition, color mixing, and life drawing techniques.

Feel free to dress up in something nautical or mer folk inspired! We will also have special treats! Instructed by studio owner Sam Matthews. All materials provided.

May 24th | Mindful Making

Join Sam Matthews and Karen Auld for a fun evening at The Loving Piece in Easton, PA on May 24th at 6:30pm. The Mindful Making workshop is all about de-stressing and having fun. Engaging in coloring can induce a state of relaxation, reducing levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, in the body. It offers a simple yet effective way to unwind and decompress. Join Karen and Sam in this creative workshop where you will explore mindful making through their brand new coloring book they launched in February along with other fun activities. $40 pp. 10 magical spots are open for this workshop.

May 31st | Mini Needle Felted Plants

In this class, you'll learn the art of needle felting where we will be creating miniature plants that will be attached to wine corks. You can choose to make them a car accessory, magnet, jewelry or anything else you come up with! Make up to 5 corks. No green thumb required—just a willingness to explore and create! All materials provided.

Instructor Bio:

Sammie is a 26 year old artist living in Stewartsville, NJ. While she has been creating art all her life, the art form of stained glass has inspired her like no other. Since she broke her first sheet of glass she has not stopped! She now has her own small business creating custom and pre-made glass art.

June 15th | Rug Tufting

Come learn the art of rug making in this completely beginner-friendly class! Winnie will walk you through the steps of projecting, tracing, and tufting your rug in this two and a half hour class. 3 students per time slot! All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary! You can chose to select a design from the options provided or pick your own design! Please see instructions below for picking your own design. You will make a 24 inch rug, that will be backed and finished by Winnie! Rugs will be available for pick up from Propagate Studio up to three weeks after the class.  This class is perfect for a couple, a new experience with your friend, or to try something new, as well as to meet new people! Please be aware that this class requires the use of large machinery. Children interested taking the class should be accompanied by a guardian. Guardians do not need to purchase an additional ticket, but please inform Winnie or Propagate Studio of your child’s age and the information of the guardian attending upon booking. 

Winnie will have several pre-approved designs for you to pick from in class if you chose. If you would like to pick your own design, please keep these guidelines in mind. (email winnieballa1165@icloud.com)
