So you wish you went to art school. For whatever reason you weren’t able to go when you were in college. I am excited to introduce and facilitate my favorite parts of art school while creating something new within our space and community. We will be exploring different mediums such as drawing, painting, mixed media and 3D sculpture, while weaving in the topics of design, color theory, and self discovery. There will be group critique, discussion, and play! Things to expect: a safe space for vulnerability, freedom to try new things without the judgement of a grade, field trips, end of class group show.
Who Should Enroll:
This course is ideal for anyone seeking a nurturing environment to explore their creativity, no matter their skill levels, who have a passion for art but may have missed out on formal training. This class is a choose your own adventure type where there will be prompts, demos, and space to hone skills as well as play and experiment. Bring your willingness to learn, explore, and provide constructive support within the class.

Sam's Bio
Being an artist has always been my identity. Since I was old enough to hold a crayon I have memories of creating and was supported by a very creative family. When it was time to go to college I chose to go to Gordon College in Massachusetts because I was considering being a double major. That wasn't the path I ultimately took and I am so grateful for that. The art department at my school was incredible. I felt supported, seen, and valued by my professors and made some of the best friendships. I was accepted into an honors study abroad program and had the incredible opportunity to live and study in Orvieto, Italy for four months. There are so many elements from my college experience I am trying to recreate and this class is a major step towards that feeling again. I have many interests, know how to create with many mediums, but when asked "what do you like to do?" I sat with it and realized I love this exact thing. Facilitating a creative outlet, offering support and ideas, but ultimately letting people find their own creative voice and aha moments within the class. I am so thrilled for this journey and can't wait to meet all of you and share this exciting new idea with you all.
